President Doug Person was absent due to pneumonia. Oh Man! Past-President Marilyn Orr stepped in to run the meeting. She asked Lisa Goldman to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Our President Elect Nominee, Paul Watermulder, delivered the invocation.
 
Visiting Rotarians and Guests: Bob Doerr introduced Philip Holsworth____ for his first visit. And visiting from the San Mateo Rotary Club was Dr. Peter Webb.
 
Announcements:
 
Al Royse came forward to introduce our newest member. Dan Conway is a former public affairs executive now retired. We’re excited to have him and his enthusiasm as part of our Club.
 
 
 
Jay Miller and his freshly baked cookies came forward to disclose his featured article from the Rotary magazine. He asked for Rotarians to guess which page he had chosen. A few members threw out numbers but none succeeded. Below is the article which is well worth reading.
 
 
Marilyn then called on President-Elect Jerry Winges. She asked him about upcoming travel rumors. After a bit of “Denile” he admitted that h and Charlene would be going to Egypt and was looking forward to visiting the new museum to see the treasures of King Tut. To give him a little historical preview William showed the attached clip.
 
 
Jerry then offered to join the President’s Club on behalf of Charlene and himself. Thank you and Bon Voyage!
 
Jennifer Pence introduced the prospect of our Rotary Club installing a Peace Pole in Burlingame. She is working with Council Michael Brownrigg and City Manager Lisa Goldman.
 
 
Jonnie Dukes announced that it was the last chance to participate in the Superbowl Pool. $20 will secure a square and a change to win and help raise funds for our Club.
 
Program
 
Marilyn Orr introduced our very own City Manager Lisa Goldman. Lisa discussed the city's upcoming logo change prominently featuring her dog Kiki.. She provided an update on the El Camino Real Roadway Renewal Project, a Caltrans initiative that involves removing and replacing trees, pavement, and sidewalks along a stretch of El Camino in Burlingame. The replacement of trees will be a mix of new species, emphasizing improved aesthetics and safety. She highlighted the undergrounding of power lines,
 
Lisa also addressed the city's plans to move out of the current City Hall due to seismic, asbestos, and space issues. The City will move into a building on Chapin Avenue, first renting then purchasing.  
and promote fiscal responsibility.
 
 
 
Lisa presented updates on various city projects and initiatives in Burlingame. She discussed new construction plans and potential development of parking lots. Lisa highlighted progress on affordable housing projects and the completion of several new residential buildings.
 
 
She also talked about the upcoming Town Square project. expected to be completed in March and adjacent to the former post office.
 
 
Lisa mentioned the launch of a Bayfront-specific plan process to guide future development in that area. She concluded by discussing the city's plans to increase the transient occupancy tax rate to either 14% or 15% to boost revenue.
