34 Rotarians and Guests actually gathered face to face without much masking at Sapore Italiano for our annual Christmas lunch—we got a chance to remember what others look like in person!! (even if some of us look better in a mask.)
Pledge of Allegiance: No pledges happened today, at least at our party.
Thought for the Day: No-one was thinking any thoughts today, except having a good time at our luncheon.
Announcements:
- President Joe thanked everyone for allowing him to retain his Presidency and make it through all the meetings thus far without a mutiny. He warned his garbage trucks were ready to defend him if needed in the New Year.
- He thanked all of the hard working Board Members, Committee heads and those that do all of the work behind the scenes that made it a very successful year.
- He announced that our next meeting will be in person, at our new venue the Green Hills Country Club on January 12th.Details and more information will be forthcoming, and will likely have a virtual option as well.
Breakout Sessions – Some of us broke out in song at the end of the meeting and after several glasses of wine, to remind us of the Joy of the Christmas season.
Newscast – No news today—nothing happened anywhere, except our great party!
Generous Rotarians!: Delia Montano and Francis Boscacci were moved by the Christmas Spirit to join the Presidents Club! And Special Thanks to Michael Brownrigg for donating $1,000 to the Service Fund! Give those Rotarians an extra cannoli! Thanks for your wonderful contributions!
Luncheon – Yes, food was the topic of our program today—lots of good Italian food (and thankfully no turkey—we will have enough of that later this month.) Plus Emily Matthews supplied us with GRINCH BAGS, with red and green fortune cookies (I think Italian food originally came from China) so quite unique and appropriate—thanks for putting those together Emily! Jim Shypertt our club photographer extraordinaire captured some great shots of the event and a few have been included with captions below.
The High Gear staff wishes everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Years, and hope you all can enjoy getting together with Family and Friends!
Harkening back to the Rotary Meetings of the 1980’s:
Mike Kimball negotiates with Mark Johnson how much he is going to be fined for wearing that tie!
Kimball is flabbergasted and shocked that women have been allowed to attend a Rotary Meeting!
