FAREWELL PRESIDENT BARRY

All good things must come to an end. As such, we gathered to wish a fond farewell to Barry Joseph Parker, Esq., our leader for the past twelve exhilarating, inspirational, productive months.  Taking the podium for his first time as President was Stan Moore, known to us, but as yet untested.  There will be many challenges ahead, sir.

Barry isn’t actually leaving anything. He will be back amongst us next week, and for many years to come.  He’ll be his own good self, stirring things up as needed.

PLEDGE AND INVOCATION

Jerry Winges lead us in the pledge.

Pastor Paul Watermulder spoke the invocation.

GUESTS AND VISITING ROTARIANS

Barry introduced his lovely wife, Dawn. Charles Voltz introduced his partner Mary Hunt.  Mary Murphy introduced her visitor from across the pond, Peter Brown. Peter is a good chap, was here for Mary’s debunking last year.   Also a guest of Mary was her other half, John Murphy.  Walt Ramseur introduced his son Steve.

No visiting Rotarians today.

RECOGNITION

President “Let’s get it on” Stan Moore fined Mary Murphy $10.00 per year for having celebrated five years with Coldwell Banker Burlingame and 26 years as a Realtor.  Queen Mary decided it would be easier to be the first person to join new President Stan Moore's President's Club...done!

THIS IS YOUR LIFE, BARRY PARKER

Marc Friedman gave us a photo tour of the happy life of Barry Parker from his  origins in Buffalo, New York.

Barry was the runt of the litter among the four children in his family.  The family moved to Walnut Creek California when Barry was in middle school.  Barry played football in high school and was the best player on the “C” team.  Hey, best is best!

After school, it was the Marine Corps where Barry roamed the desert keeping California safe for democracy.  Off to U.C. through law school, now specializing in intellectual property law.

Barry and Dawn were married in 1995.  Barry loves to sail; he and Dawn make their home in Half Moon Bay. Thanks for a great year, Barry!

OFF-BROADWAY-BURLINGAME PLAYERS

With the goings-on this year, this stuff writes itself. Actually, though, the writer was our own Dennis Zell.   The Barry Parker player looked like Doug McGeorge with a carrot top.  The ladies included Carol Tanzi, Marilyn Orr, and Joy Aud.  At the table was the Little Rotarian John Delaney. Ricardo Ortiz made an appearance as a barrister in a sombrero, with a spot-on accent we must admit.
