Our next meeting is a lunch meeting at 12:15pm at Poplar Creek on August 8.  We will hear an update on the recently completed Japanese Exchange visit from our sister club in Edogawa.  Our speaker will be our own Emily Matthews who will report on her recently completed Yukon trip.

I know these meetings in August are in the middle of the "Dog Days" of summer and many of you are out of town.  However, if you are not out of town I hope you will attend this and our August 15th meeting.  We have made a modest attendance guaranty (significantly less than half of the club's membership) to Poplar Creek.  However, we are having trouble meeting it.  So if you can be there, it would greatly appreciated.

Let’s Review What Happened Last Week:

Cheri Delacy Carr was our "substitute president" at our August 1 meeting.  She has begun training for her presidency year.  We heard reports from two of our BHS scholarship recipients.   We had a video presentation of the CEO of Ekso Bionics showing his bionic exoskeleton that workers and injured folks can wear to assist them.

Helping Redding:

In response to the Carr Fire that has ravaged the North State (NorCal) region, local Rotary Clubs are joining together to promote the Shasta Regional Community Foundation’s (SRCF) Community Disaster Relief Fund. With Rotary’s long history as a partner with the Community Foundation, we are confident of their trusted stewardship of donations and generous investors in the Carr Fire recovery over time. Please consider a donation today to help us meet our goal by donating online at http://www.shastarcf.org/funds/cdrf.  Be sure to note #NorCalRotary in the notes section as you enter your donation. Checks may also be sent directly to the Community Foundation at 1335 Arboretum Drive, Redding, CA 96003 or call 530-244-1219.

Burlingame on the Avenue:
