The Names Behind the Streets - Streets of Hillsborough
Ralston. Sharon. Pullman. Tobin Clark. The namesakes of the streets of Hillsborough are some of the pioneers of the San Francisco Bay Area, and most residents don't realize the rich history of the streets they live on. The origins of the Town of Hillsborough can be traced back to the late 1800s, when the wealthy businessmen of San Francisco desired to live in a "country setting" away from the city. The name of the town itself can be traced back to William Davis Merry Howard, hailing from Hillsboro, New Jersey, who originally purchased the entire San Mateo area from Mexican Governor Pio Pico in 1845. In 1910, the residents of the areas of Burlingame and San Mateo voted to formally incorporate Hillsborough. So who are some of the streets in town named after? https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/names-behind-streets-alex-buljan/
