String Quartet Performance

Cary and his fellow performers are excited to take you on a fun journey through the vibrant world of string quartets! They’ll kick things off with some brief, lively performances from famous quartets and spice things up with a playful quiz where you can guess the composers and their masterpieces. After warming up with this interactive start, they'll dive deep into a specific quartet. They will peel back the layers of its composition and share some of the magic behind its creation to give you a closer look and a deeper appreciation and understanding of the music's structure and aesthetic significance. Performers will include Cary Koh on the violin, Sue Soong on the violin, Stephanie Ng on the viola, and Michael Graham on the cello. |

Urban Paws: Service Dogs for First Responders and Military Members

After being involved in a fatal shooting as a Burlingame Police Sergeant, Jeff Downs transitioned to his current mission of giving professionally trained service dogs to first responders, military members, and other public servants to aid in healing job-related stress and trauma. Urban Paws breeds and trains its own dogs and provides them to recipients at no cost. One of these dogs may even make an appearance at our lunch! |

Sasha Vasilyuk, a New York Times-featured journalist who grew up between Ukraine, Russia, and San Francisco, will share a unique lens on the war in Ukraine as seen through her family and her debut novel Your Presence is Mandatory (Bloomsbury). Spanning from WWII until the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the novel tells the story of a Jewish Ukrainian veteran with a secret. It acts as a historical primer on the current war in Ukraine. Sasha has written about the region for the New York Times, CNN, Time, KQED, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and others. |
